Subject: Request for Assistance: Summary of expected base Salaries for various IT jobs
Hi there,
Hope you are doing great. We need to prepare our annual institutional Research and Analysis document for current and graduated students. This document highlights expected salary information for different IT department graduates. So, I was wondering if you can help to build a power BI dashboard that will primarily focus on expected average salary for undergraduate students aiming for Co- Op, students with Diploma certificate, students with college degrees and graduate students. I have attached all the necessary files containing data that you need to build the dashboard.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to me with any further queries.

Project Request Breakdown
Based on the request above, I decided to create a report that focuses on overall expected salary for various IT jobs based on different education levels.
Below is the layout of the Dashboard Report
Dashboard Report page contains |
A quick overview of salary information based on job category, title, and education. Detailed overview of salary based on different criteria. |
Step 1 – Calculations in SQL
I began my project by cleansing the data. After importing all the files into SQL server, I filtered out unnecessary columns and wrote necessary SQL codes to extract insightful data. Below are the SQL statements for cleansing and transforming the necessary data.
Step 2 – Importing files and creating “Data Model” on Power BI
Following the completion of data cleansing on the SQL server, I imported those files into power BI and built necessary relationships between tables to create a robust data model. Subsequently, I wrote few DAX codes to obtain deeper insights into the job and salary data.
Step 3 – Building Dashboard on Power BI
After completing the calculations, I created a layout for the dashboard and started building my report.
Here is the live version of the report. Check it out……….
